The best way to enjoy the Litchfield Green Area is to take a Walking tour of Historical Litchfield. The town was founded in 1721 and many of the buildings seen today were originally built in the late 1700s. The central area of Litchfield was designated as a State Historic District in 1959. North & South Street was designated as a National Historical Landmark District in 1967. Most of the buildings on these streets are private homes, but they can be enjoyed by merely strolling the tree-lined street. Pick up map of at the Information Center on the Green.
